Every day of every month at GQ, we start your morning on Instagram visual advice on What to Wear Today. But we want to go deeper. Give you the nuts and bolts of how to get the look into your wardrobe. This month, we're looking at the summer's hottest trends as seen in fashion capitals the world over. Today we're showing you how to elevate all-white summer dressing one saturated accessory.
By now you should have your all-white summer style on lock down. Your white jeans are on point, you know which low-top white sneakers are the season's best, and you know how to pair the two together. Right? Right.
But one thing you surely haven't tried at this point is the small finishing touch that makes a big difference: adding a bright colored bandana to the mix. Maybe it's because bandanas can make you feel like a boy scout or maybe you just genuinely never thought of it but, either way, it's time to give it a try. It's also the only acceptable piece of clothing to double as a napkin, paper towel, dust rag, and sweat blotter. And wearing one in bright orange-red is a perfect way to take the boring out of your minimal summer dressing.
Our street style buddy here is wearing his bandana tucked into the collar of his shirt, which is a nice way of showing that you're no novice when it comes to sartorial finishing touches. The French have nearly a zillion recorded ways of ingeniously wearing scarves and bandanas and though you certainly don't need to learn them all, this is one you should definitely put into your rotation. All you need to do is roll the bandana on its diagonal and then gently tuck it into your shirt collar. And if red or orange feels like too harsh a swerve, get started with a navy or black bandana. As the French would say: Voila.
